Lansing, MI – The Grace JV squad traveled to Great Lakes Christian College Thursday night to face a motivated Crusaders team that was competing in their first game at the JV level. The Crusaders would score the first basket of the game, but from there on out the Tigers did what was needed to build a comfortable lead and come away with a 79-63 victory.
Shooting a 45% clip from beyond the arc was a large contributor in the win, led by 5-7 3's from
Craig Whittaker.
Gerard Oray also shot 3-5 from the three-point line and finished with a team high 19 points and 13 rebounds. Adrian "Ace" Cobbs finished with 18 points and a staggering 5 blocks. Deondra McDonald also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
"For a third game in four days, I thought we played decently well," said Head Coach
Ryan Krombeen. "We lost two guys to injury on Wednesday, but I thought our bench filled in and held their ground throughout the game. Craig (Whittaker) continues his hot shooting from the night before, which always helps. Our turnovers are still way too high, and if that continues against Hope on Saturday, we could dig ourselves a big hole."
The Tigers, now 4-2 on the season, return to action Saturday night at home against Hope College at 7:00 pm.
