Within Grace Christian University Athletics, we are developing champions for Christ. We believe that we glorify God through taking the gifts He has given us, and maximizing them. Our athletes strive for excellence on and off the field.
Through each team here at Grace Christian, athletes are embedded into a culture that drives them towards hard work, integrity, community, and overall success. Every student-athlete here is an important part of the Grace Christian family.
If you are considering becoming a part of the Grace Christian family, you may want to hear what our student-athletes think of GCU. Here are some Tigers who wanted to share about their experience here.
Why did you choose to come to Grace Christian?
“Originally, I chose to come to Grace to play baseball and to get a college education. I am now a junior and have come to realize that it is much more than just baseball and school. It is to pursue God, to learn and worship Him so that we are prepared after college to live long and healthy lives.”
- Jaden Schoeneman, ‘25 Baseball
“I chose GCU initially because of basketball. That changed once I stepped foot on campus. I have grown in not only my athletics, but with my faith and academics. This place has allowed me to grow & mature in ways I could not have imagined.”
- Quay Humphries, ‘25 Men’s Basketball
What have you gained since being here?
“Since being at GCU, I have built relationships not just within my sport, but also have connected with professors, and other faculty members here. The open arms I have been greeted with at GCU have been very beneficial.”
- Quay Humphries, ‘25 Men’s Basketball
“Some things I have gained since being here are a stronger grip on my faith. I was able to learn how to connect my personal life and my faith life. I've also gained so many opportunities around campus such as participating in Student Government, working on campus, and getting a chance to play on other teams such as tennis. One last thing I gained was a community. There are so many people, teachers, staff, and students, that are here for you in every aspect. I made new friendships with people I now call lifetime friends.”
- Kyrsten Nolen, ‘26, Women’s Volleyball, Tennis, and Basketball
What might you say to a prospective recruit considering Grace?
“I would tell them that Grace is a campus full of amazing people. People who love God. And that they should come to Grace because the college experience at Grace rather than somewhere else is so fulfilling. I am thankful that I chose to come to Grace as a transfer because I honestly never thought I could grow in my faith as much as I did. I also made the best memories.”
- Eleyna Zichterman, ‘24 Women’s Volleyball
“You are not going to find a school and athletic program that computes this high on the national stage and cares this much about their athletes. I have developed a large quantity of people that I know I can call 10 years from now no matter what I need. I guarantee no other school in the country can say that.”
- Zac Yorke, ‘25 Men’s Basketball
“I would say to pray about your decision and go with where the Lord will take you. I would also say that the Lord will use you wherever you go, so you don't need to put so much stress on yourself. I fell in love with Grace because it is where God put me and needed me to be, your story might be different, but I can truly say God will use you and teach you things at Grace you would have never thought about.”
- Julia Schultz, ‘25, Women’s Volleyball, Cross Country, and Basketball
