Wyoming, MI - After an exciting day of basketball at the Aldrich Athletic Center on Thursday, the Grace Christian University men's JV basketball team is still alive thanks to two straight wins in the loser's bracket over Great Lakes Christian College and Madonna University.
The Cornerstone University Golden Eagles topped the Tigers 59-50 to start the day and then defeated Madonna in the next round to advance to the other semifinal game.Â
After a slow start in their game against GLCC, the Tigers finished the half with a bang, literally, as
Gerard Oray scored a basket with a few seconds remaining and then subsequently
Deondra McDonald stole the inbounds pass and threw down a monster one-handed slam at the buzzer to give the Tigers a lead they'd keep for the rest of the game.
Against Madonna, the game was hard fought throughout and the Tigers had the ball with 15 seconds remaining. Oray was able to blow by his defender and finish a lay-up with his left hand for the eventual game winning basket, as a Madonna three-point shot rimmed off as time expired.
The Tigers play today at 2:15 pm against the loser of the Cornerstone University/Aquinas College winner's bracket semi-final game.
