Martinson shoots career low in season debut

Battle Creek, MI – It was the first action of 2024 for the men's golf team over Labor Day Weekend, as they opened at the Lou Collins Tournament held at Bedford Valley GC for the third straight year.
Jake Martinson started the year hot, shooting 40 on the front nine and finishing with a career-best 85 on the day and added two birdies on Saturday and finished with a 91. Cody DeNeui shot 89 in round 1 with two birdies and followed with an 84 on Saturday.

"It was great to get back in the course and get a couple of our guys out there competing," said Head Coach Eric Zudweg. "Jake really played a solid tournament and his short game has really improved. Cody got off to a rough start but was able to battle and come back with a solid and more consistent Day 2. I expect both of these guys to shoot some low scores this year and looking forward to a great season."

The Tigers have more than a week to prep for their next official action, which is to come on September 13 at the Adrian Bulldog Invite in Tecumseh, MI.
