Kentwood, MI - The Grace Christian Softball team split their home opening games on Tuesday against Muskegon Community College. The Tigers went on to lose a pair of games on Wednesday to Siena Heights University.
Tuesday's first game against the Jayhawks started off with a 2-0 lead going into the third inning.
Kyra Kaboos' single to left field would get her on base, followed by hits by
Kaliann Newberry and
Morgan Hall that would send her home for the first run of the game. Newberry also made it home on an error by the Jayhawks. However, Muskegon quickly caught up as the responded with 2 runs of their own in the third, and 6 more in the fourth. Kaboos tallied 4 hits in Game One, including one double, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs. Hall had 3 hits and 3 RBIs of her own. The Tigers fell 8-11 to the Jayhawks.
Game Two resulted in a 15-6 victory over Muskegon Community College. Hall and Newberry led the Tigers' offense with 4 hits and 3 RBIs a piece. Newberry scored 3 runs, along with
Emma Balkema who scored 3 runs as well.Â
Wednesday's double header against Siena Heights did not go as planned as the Tigers fell 0-12 and 0-6.
Carlee DeVries, Kaboos, and Hall each added one hit in Game One. Newberry delivered 2 hits in Game Two.
The Tigers have some time off before their next double header on Saturday, March 29 at Albion College.Â
