GBC traveled to Chicago this weekend to face Dayspring Bible College and host school Moody Bible Institute.

Grace opened up the day against the Eagles of Dayspring. After shaking off their travel legs, GBC made adjustments to find their court rhythm. The Tigers sprang to life and took three straight sets with scores of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-23.

Allyssa Thompson and Adrianna Bunce recorded 9 kills apiece followed by Marlae Sloothvaak with personal best of 7. Grace put up 36 digs and 6 aces on the match.

Match two was against the Archers of Moody, who the Tigers faced only one week ago. It was evident that Grace did their homework and put what they learned into action from previous experience.

Set one against the Archers was a nail biter until the end as both teams battled back and forth resulting in a close 23-25 loss. The second set was filled with long, intense rallies, hard hits, and amazing digs. The Tigers showed persistence as they took Moody another full game with a final score of 20-25. After two extremely well fought sets, the Tigers faced an uphill battle as energy began to run low. Despite the wide set gap in the final score (9-25) Grace competed well and left it all on the court with their heads held high.

"We were intentional this week with our drills and game-film preparation," Coach Karsten said. "We were extremely proud with the effort put forth to implement what we learned. Our offensive and defensive skills balanced well; it was a great match overall."

Adrianna Bunce led the team offensively with 7 kills while Allyssa Thompson carried the team defensively with two solo and four assisted blocks. Thompson earned her second game ball of her senior season with 100% serving, 14 kills, and numerous blocks and touches at the net against faced paced completion.
