Chicago, IL - GBCVB traveled, for the third time this season, to the Windy City for weekend competition against Dayspring Bible College and Emmaus Bible College.
The Tigers earned three straight set wins in their first match of the day against a very scrappy Eagle squad securing the overall victory with scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-19.
"Dayspring played the best we have seen them to date," said Coach Becky Karsten. "Their defense was especially consistent. On our side, we were able to run multiple offensive options because our passing game was spot-on throughout the match. It was great to see our hitters stay aggressive on offense."
Notable contributions against Dayspring: Team kill total of 39; Adrianna Bunce (12), Amy Leszinske (9), Melinda Thomas (8) and Ashley Bearden (5). Bunce and Emma Summerfield collected 10 and 14 digs respectively out of the 43 team total. Bearden earned 26 set assists.
The Tigers kept their momentum and headed strong into the second match of the day against the Eagles from Emmaus. With increased focus from the first match, Grace set the pace of the game early and didn't look back. The Tigers took their second three-set victory of the day with scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-16.
"It was great to get those first three wins of the morning, but as a team, we knew we could play sharper," Karsten added. "The team definitely rose to the challenge and took their play to the next level in every aspect of the game. It's great to come away with two wins from a weekend on the road.
Notable contributions against Emmaus: Team total of 8 assisted blocks led by MH Meagan Pifer with 3. Emma Summerfield contributed 18 of the team total 38 digs. Bunce contributed an outstanding 40% of the team's total kill count with 11 out of 27 kills.
The day's game ball was awarded to Adrianna Bunce for her dominating offensive contributions and overall game play.
