Wyoming, MI – The Grace Christian University Tigers move to 1-0 on the young season after defeating a talented bunch from Siena Heights University Tuesday night at the Aldrich Athletic Center.
The Tigers were losing by six after a sluggish first 15 minutes of the game, before putting together a 17-6 run to finish the half with a 37-31 advantage. They carried their momentum into the second half, where they built a double-digit lead and led by as many as 16 points. Siena would trim the lead to seven but the Tigers kept a comfortable enough cushion to finish with a relatively stress-free 85-76 victory.
Junior Brandon Winchester-Jones led the Tigers with 25 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Senior Bernard Smith scored 16 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Junior Adam Kregel had a strong second half to total 11 points and round out the Tigers in double-figure scoring.
Next up for Grace is the John F. Bailey Charity Classic at home starting this Friday at 7:00 pm against NCCAA DII regional opponent Welch College.
