Ankeny, IA – Randall University has won the last three NCCAA DII Men's Basketball National Championships, defeating the Grace Tigers twice along the way. The two teams would meet again at the Faith Baptist Bible College Classic on Friday afternoon, and the Tigers played some inspired basketball to ultimately defeat the defending champs very convincingly. After holding a 15-11 lead midway through the first half, they would put together a 27-7 run to go into the break with a 42-18 advantage. No let downs would ensue in the second half, as the Tigers never allowed the Saints to cut into their lead and led between 24 and 30 points for the remainder of the game to finish with an 85-56 win.
The Tigers shot the lights out, totaling 13-18 for a staggering 72.2% clip from beyond the arc. From the field overall, they shot 62.5% and held the Saints to 30.8% on their field goals.
The Tigers backcourt was on fire throughout, as junior Brandon Winchester-Jones led the Tigers with 15 points on 5-6 three point shooting, and senior Caleb Anderson had 13 points, shooting 4-6 from three. Senior Bernard Smith had a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. Junior Austin Jackson and senior Grant Garrison rounded out the Tigers in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively.
The Tigers, now 6-3 on the season, finish their Iowa trip with a game against Ozark Christian College (MO) Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
