Tigers finish outstanding weekend in Kentucky

Grayson, KY – The Grace men's basketball team completed the Super 8 Classic at Kentucky Christian University unblemished this past weekend with an 83-69 win over NCCAA DI Hiwassee College (TN). 

The Tigers found themselves down two with 2:00 remaining in the first half, but would close on a 9-0 run to take a 38-31 lead into halftime.  They would kick-start their momentum once again to start the final period, scoring the first 7 points for an immediate 14 point lead and went on to lead by as many as 20 later on in the half.

Austin Jackson (JR/Kelloggsville HS) scored a team-high 21 points on 9-13 shooting and pulled down 7 rebounds.  Adam Kregel (JR/Kenowa Hills HS) filled the stat sheet with 16 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. 

The 3-0 weekend for the Tigers moves them to 10-4 on the season, headed into a big match-up in Holland, MI Tuesday night against Hope College (NCAA D3).

Article for Friday's big win vs. Shawnee State (NAIA DI)

The Tigers overcame an early 22 point deficit in the first half to trim the Shawnee State lead to 37-29 at the half. Junior Austin Jackson led a furious Tiger charge at the end of the first half and Grace used that momentum to outscore the Bears by 15 in the second half for the final margin of victory. The Tigers shot a blistering percentage (60%) from the field in the second half, 77% from behind the 3 point line as 5 Tigers ended up in double figures led by Jackson with 18 and Junior Adam Kregel with 16. Junior Brandon Winchester-Jones, Senior Grant Garrison, and Senior Marcus Chandler all added 11 points each.

Jackson had a huge game for GCU, leading the Tigers with 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block, 2 steals, and no turnovers. Kregel also came up big, falling just short of a double/double with 9 rebounds.
