Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers lead early but fall to Cornerstone

Grand Rapids, MI – For the second straight season, the Grace women's soccer team struck first at Cornerstone University with a goal in the early stages of the first half.

Sophomore Maddie Brown would jet into the box and put a shot past the Golden Eagle keeper just over six minutes into the game.  The Golden Eagles would fire back and put in two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead into the half.   The Tigers would not be able to recover in the final period, allowing three more goals and resulting in a 5-1 setback on the road.

"I was proud of our team for playing hard last night, and it was exciting to take the lead on a great goal by Maddie," commented Head Coach Scott Teesdale.  "CU has a very fast team and we could never get comfortable with the ball due to their pressure. I'm happy with how the team is coming together and we will continue to improve."

Sophomore Regan Befus had 11 saves on the night in the goal for the Tigers.  They will return to the field this Friday in Bluffton, OH to take on the Bluffton University Beavers.  Saturday they will complete their road trip in Notre Dame, IN against the Holy Cross College Saints.
