Wyoming, MI – Grace volleyball welcomed Jackson College to campus Wednesday evening for the first official Grace Christian University athletics event in the new-look Aldrich Athletic Center.
The atmosphere was electric to begin the game, with the Tigers dominating the first set 25-18 to the satisfaction of their energetic home crowd. The talented Jets squad would storm back to take sets 2 and 3. Game 4 was all Tigers once again, as they knotted things up to force a fifth set after outscoring the Jets 25-18. The Jets would come out firing on all cylinders to start the final set and held on to solidify a 15-9 win to decide the match.
"Collectively, both as players and coaches, we learned a lot from this match to implement into future competitions," said Head Coach Becky Karsten. "This squad has a lot of talent and we need to keep working hard to trust each other on the court. We are confident that trust will continue to increase as our season progresses and we become more comfortable with each other."
Freshman Ashley Hoek recorded team-highs of 13 kills and 7 blocks on the night, and she was awarded the game ball for her stellar play on both offensively and defensively. Sophomore Tori Dogger also contributed 37 assists and 15 digs for the Tigers.
