Detroit, MI – The NCCAA DII #1 ranked Grace Christian University Tigers prevailed 92-80 in a battle against the #3 ranked Great Lakes Christian College Crusaders at Little Caesars Arena Wednesday afternoon. With an 84-80 lead late in the game, senior Caleb Anderson knocked down his sixth three point shot of the night to make the lead seven, halting a run made by the feisty Crusaders in the waning minutes.
Anderson had a career high 24 points, shooting 6-8 from the three-point line. Junior Brandon Winchester-Jones followed with 23 points in addition to dishing out a team-high 6 assists. Junior Adam Kregel pitched in 14 points, knocking down 4-4 from beyond the arc, and pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds. The Tigers out-rebounded the Crusaders as a team, 45-32. Â
"We did not play well and had too many turnovers, but they forced us not to play well," commented Head Coach Gary Bailey. "Happy to go home with the win, it certainly was not a 12 point game. The guys played well down the stretch and executed at the end."
Grace moves to 15-7 on the year heading into a tough test on the road next Tuesday against one of the top NCAA DII teams in the nation in Davenport University.
