Grand Rapids, MI- When you think of a college JV Basketball program and you're not familiar with it, you would think that there is nothing special or big about it. This is certainly not the case when it comes to the Grace Christian JV Men's Basketball program and their game against what some might consider our cross-town rival, Calvin College. Calvin College is Division III of the NCAA, making this a really big game. Along with this being a really big game, both teams will be wearing pink warm up tops to support Breast Cancer Awareness.

JV Head Coach Ryan Krombeen said, "They [Calvin] are one of our rivals, which is a big reason why both games against them every season are split. Also, Calvin's coach works at Grandville Christian with me, so it adds a little bit more excitement."

Assistant Coach Cameron Cramer agreed and also added his thoughts as to how he visions Grace to play against Calvin, "We are definitely better than the last time, so we should show up and play a lot better."

When asked about what the message should be towards the Grace community heading into this Breast Cancer Awareness game, co-captain Jason Long said, "People go through a lot of challenges in life, and that it's always nice to play this type of game to show support to those who've dealt with this."

Coach Krombeen added, "We're supporting one of the guys on the team, Gerard Oray, who unfortunately lost his mother to breast cancer."

The game against Calvin is on January 22nd at 7 pm. The girls varsity basketball game is at 5 pm against Great Lakes Christian College.  The games will be a Pink Out, so wear pink if you can and come support the JV team.
