Wyoming, MI – A total team effort resulted in a 70-65 win for the Grace Christian University women's basketball squad Tuesday night over Lourdes University (NAIA) at the Aldrich Athletic Center. It was a great game throughout, with no team ever leading by double-digits, and the Tigers made the necessary plays down the stretch to hold on to the five-point victory.
With the Tigers holding a two-point lead early in the third quarter, point guard
Bre Harris got called for her third foul and had to sit out in foul trouble. Lourdes would go on a 17-5 run to take a 49-40 lead in the next five minutes, but the Tigers closed out the third quarter and started the fourth quarter on a tear, putting together an 18-5 run of their own to recapture the lead and keep it for the rest of the game.
Sophomore
Emily Libey continued her hot shooting streak with a team-high 18 points on 6-8 field goals and knocked down 2-4 from beyond the arc.
Megan Scholtens and
Maggie Long both scored 11 points for the Tigers, and Scholtens recorded a team-high 5 assists.
Bre Harris filled the stat sheet with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
The win marks two in a row for the Tigers, upping their season record to 2-2. Their next game will be on the road against Muskegon Community College next Monday at 5:30 pm.
