Louisville, KY – The Grace Christian University volleyball team fell to #4 seeded Welch College in the fifth set Thursday afternoon in a roller coaster of a match in the 2019 Mideast Regional Tournament quarterfinals.
The Tigers came out on fire, dominating the first set for a 25-15. Welch quickly struck back with a 25-17 win in the second set. The Tigers would then go up 2-1 in the third, but Welch again had a rebuttal, winning the fourth 25-19 and forcing the fifth and deciding set. The Tigers fell behind quickly in the final set and could not fully recover, falling 15-8.
Emma Summerfield capped off her career by doing what she does best, recording a team high 34 digs. Ashley Hoek produced a team-high 21 kills and 3 blocks. Megan Postma had 17 kills and 3 aces.
Head Coach Kerri Shultz and the Tigers finish the 2019 campaign with a 12-13 record.
