Kissimmee, FL – A slow start for the Tigers in the first half of Tuesday evening's opening round of the NCCAA National Tournament pool play would ultimately allow #2 seed Providence University College to prevail 2-0.
The Pilots struck first just before the 30:00 mark, and then broke free from the Tiger defense once more later in the half to take a 2-0 lead into the break. Their defense remained stout for the final 45 minutes of play to shutout the high-powered Grace offense that has been very reliable all season long.
The Tigers did not go down without a fight, outshooting the Pilots 5-4 in the second half, with freshman Tobias Jones nearly finding the back of the net twice. Freshman Levi Pant made a couple fantastic saves as well to keep the game within striking distance, finishing the game with 5 saves.
The Tigers play their second game of pool play on Thursday evening against #6 Manhattan Christian College at 5:30 pm. Manhattan and Providence will face each other tomorrow, with a Manhattan win being the only possible route for Grace to make Saturday's final.
