Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Tigers finish strong in 20-point win over Crusaders

Lansing, MI – The NCCAA DII #7 ranked Grace Christian University women's basketball team headed east to Lansing, MI Wednesday night for their final NCCAA action of the season against Great Lakes Christian College.

Megan Scholtens (JR/Grant, MI) started the game out on fire to lift the Tigers to an early lead, knocking down her first four jump shots, two of them from beyond the arc.  The Crusaders would go on a run to cut in to the Tiger lead late in the first half, but Grace still went into the halftime break holding a 32-23 advantage.  The third quarter would be played pretty evenly, as the Tigers retained their lead but were unable to put the feisty Crusaders away.  A three point shot from Scholtens to end the period and a quick basket from Ashley Hoek (FR/Jenison, MI) to start the fourth would open up a 16-point lead and give the Tigers some momentum as they were able to blow things open in the final period, resulting in a 70-50 victory.

Scholtens led the Tigers with 16 points, putting her at 981 for her career and within striking distance of her 1,000th point.  She was followed by Miranda Carlson (JR/Big Rapids, MI) who found her shooting touch in the final period to finish with 14 points.  Megan George (SO/Grand Rapids, MI) had 11 points and 9 rebounds.  Hoek led the Tigers with 11 rebounds, while Bre Harris (FR/Fremont, MI) had a team-high 6 assists and 3 steals.

The Tigers, now 14-15 on the season, face Mount Mary University at home this upcoming Saturday at 3:00 pm.
