Wyoming, MI - The Grace JV Basketball team went 2-0 over the weekend at the Aldrich Athletic Center, defeating Cornerstone University in a close one on Cancer Awareness Night on Friday, and following up with a dominate win over Dayspring Bible College's varsity team on Saturday afternoon.
After a tightly contested first half on Friday, the Tigers developed a 17 point second half lead. The Golden Eagles then stormed back late in the game to cut the Tiger lead to 2, but Grace held on for the 82-80 win.
Deondra McDonald led the Tigers with 20 points and 8 rebounds.Â
Gerard Oray added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and a team-high 8 assists.Â
Zak Lucas recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Nate VanCleave started off the day on fire on Saturday, knocking down four three-point shots in a row in the first ten minutes of the game. The Tigers developed a significant lead early, and would never turn back, resulting in the 96-61 win.
Zak Lucas led the Tigers with 23 points and 10 rebounds, completing his second straight double-double. VanCleave finished with 14 points,
Noah Johnston with 13, and
Cory Dunn added 12 points. As a team, the Tigers broke a JV program record with 32 assists led by 8 from
Gerard Oray and 6 from
Benjie Cutts, Jr.
After their sixth straight win, the Tigers move to 13-6 on the year headed into a match-up at Aquinas College Tuesday night at 7:30 pm.
