The Grace Christian University women's volleyball team took their longest road-match trek of the year over the weekend, closing out their regular season with two matches at Johnson University-Tennessee.
They would start things off hot, defeating Roane State Community College in three straight sets, led by 12 kills from
Kenna Grant and 11 kills from
Ashley Hoek.
Dani Tanner had a team-high 5 aces, and
Abby Summerfield led with 11 digs.
Tori Johnston had 21 assists throughout the first match.
The second match was a showdown with the host school Johnson University-Tennessee, and the Tigers could not quite get over the hump, falling 3-0 despite keeping all 3 games very close until the end.
Megan Postma led the Tigers in the later match with 9 kills and 2 blocks.
With the weekend split, Grace finishes their 2020 regular season with an 8-6 record.
"We had an amazing weekend as a team," said Head Coach
Kerri Shultz. "There were so many fun memories made and too many laughs to count! It definitely showed in our games as we stayed together no matter what happened in play, as we faced tough competition. We are excited to work as hard as we can in practice this week to prepare for regionals this weekend!"
The Tigers will head to Pippas Passes, KY for the NCCAA DII Regional Tournament this upcoming weekend, kicking things off likely in the #2/#3 seed match-up at 5:15 pm on Friday, but the seeding won't be officially announced until Tuesday.
