Wyoming, MI – The Tigers welcomed their second NCCAA DII regional opponent in as many days Saturday afternoon, facing the Boyce College Bulldogs out of Louisville, KY to cap off the John F. Bailey Memorial Classic.
After developing a significant lead in the first half and into the final period of play, the Bulldogs put together a valiant comeback effort in the late stages of the game to trim the Tigers' lead to single digits. In the end, Grace held on for an 89-82 win to move to 2-0 in the NCCAA DII on the season and 2-1 overall.
Junior guard
Kellum Bridgeforth did a little bit of everything for the Tigers, finishing with 19 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Sophomore
Jarius Shumpert finished with a career-high 17 points, and
Jerome Cobb added 16 for the Tigers. Bridgeforth and
Dre Dennis were recognized as All-Classic team for the John F. Bailey Classic.
The Tigers return to the hardcourt next Friday and Saturday at Grace College, where they will face the host school on Friday and Huntington University on Saturday.
