Tigers go 2-for-2 over the weekend at home

Wyoming, MI – The Grace Christian University men's basketball team returned home this weekend, playing in their first games at the Aldrich Athletic Center in the 2020 calendar year.

Friday presented the challenge of Welch College, a regional opponent in the NCCAA that had just recently defeated NCCAA #3 Johnson University Tennessee just a week prior.  Welch started the game strong and hung with the Tigers for the first 12 minutes of the game before Grace would outscore them by 15 in the final 8 minutes of the half to take a 53-38 lead at the break. The Tigers led by as many as 27 points in the second half, and finished the game with a 99-77 win.

Austin Jackson finished the game with 27 points and 12 rebounds.  Kierson Watts added 22 points.

The Tigers followed up on Saturday afternoon with a match-up against Campbellsville University-Somerset on 2010 NCCAA DII National Championship Reunion day.

Brandon Winchester-Jones led the Tigers with 20 points, and added 6 assists and 6 rebounds.  Austin Jackson recorded his second double-double of the weekend with 15 points and 14 rebounds.  Logan Karnemaat scored 12 points on a perfect 5-5 shooting from the floor.  Kierson Watts dished out a team-high 9 of the staggering 32 assists recorded by the Tigers on the day.

Grace moves to 13-11 on the year, awaiting a trip to Harrodsburg, KY on February 7th to face the other Campbellsville University remote campus, CU-Harrodsburg, next week.  They are currently on a four-game win streak and have won six of their last seven.
