Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tigers explode in second half, win seventh straight

Louisville, KY – Despite some first half struggles, the Grace Tigers' men's soccer team displayed some fireworks in the final 45 minutes on the road against Boyce College Thursday afternoon to end up victorious.

The Bulldogs had their eyes set on an upset at halftime, carrying a 1-0 lead on the NCCAA #5 Tigers after a first half penalty kick. Grace would then flip the switch in the second half, scoring a staggering 8 goals to leave no doubt in their seventh straight victory in a row.

"The match was an interesting one and clearly a tale of two halves," said Grace Head Coach Dustin Buchanan. "Credit to Boyce who was playing with some quality but we just did not seem to have the energy and gave up a penalty kick.  At half we made some adjustments and I knew the guys were determined to change the game and they certainly did.  We felt very confident and that just continued to rise with each goal. This was a match where we can absolutely learn things from.  Thrilled with the response in the second half credit to the boys."

Buchanan spoke on some of the individuals that gave the team a needed lift.

"Johann gave us an incredible energy over the full ninety.  Brett put in great second half showing why he is a 2x 1st team all American with a hat trick.  Two freshman really made an impact with Jorge Saldanas-Veliz controlling things in the middle while Ryan Cronkright continued his excellent form scoring two big goals."

The Tigers, now 10-4 on the year, close out their road trip Saturday in Ohio against Ohio Christian University (NAIA) at 12:00 pm.
