Wyoming, MI – It was a showdown between the #1 and #2 teams in the NCCAA DII Wednesday afternoon at Velting Field, as the #2 Grace Christian University Tigers welcomed #1 Great Lakes Christian College to town.
The game proved to live up to the hype, resulting in an evenly matched affair that was knotted at 0-0 for the first 87 minutes of the game. At this point, the Crusaders were able to break the tie with a goal resulting from a corner kick. When it seemed like time was dwindling, the Tigers'
Jennie Sue Pilieci created a solid chance for an equalizer in the waning moments that unfortunately hit the crossbar. The Crusaders went on to score once more with 30 seconds remaining to result in the 2-0 win.
The Tigers, now 7-5 on the season, now head into another home game against Mount Mary University this Saturday at 2:00 pm. The game has been designated "Senior Day," so we welcome everyone to come out and support the seniors as they are recognized at halftime!
