Wyoming, MI – The Grace women's basketball team prevailed in a high-scoring affair in their home opener at the Aldrich Athletic Center Saturday morning, defeating the Welch College Flames, 91-87.
After holding a 45-36 lead at the halftime break, the Flames exploded at the beginning of the third period to take a 3 point lead. The Tigers then flipped the switch and went on a key run to finish the quarter that resulted in a five point lead of their own headed into the fourth quarter after a huge and-one basket for
Taejah Cross to cap off the period.
Ashley Hoek had 20 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists for the Tigers, recording the only triple-double in recent history for the Grace women's basketball program. Hoek also added 5 blocks.
Emily Libey had a career day as well, with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Ashlyn Wilkes added a career-high 18 points for the Tigers.
Now sitting at 2-1 on the year, the Tigers return to the court Friday, November 12 against Lincoln Christian University at Grace College in Winona Lake, IN at 2:00 pm.
