JV Men's Basketball

JV strings together 3 straight W's

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Grace JV basketball team has strung together three straight wins in the past three days, defeating Welch College and Dayspring Bible College at home over the weekend and knocking off Cornerstone University on the road Monday night in front of a crowd of nearly 1,000 people.

In their first game, Elisha Moore exploded for 30 points and 16 rebounds and Adam Rearick had a double-double as well with 13 and 15. LeDarius Lyons filled the box score with 15 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. They outrebounded Welch 60-34 en route to a 91-78 win.

Travis Blasko led the Tigers against Dayspring with 16 points and 7 rebounds in a 71-58 win.

In Monday's win, Elisha Moore scored 25 points and LeDarius Lyons added 17 to lead five Tigers in double-digits scoring (also Isaias Rios 11, Adam Rearick 14, Jordan Cobb 11). The Tigers shot 20-23 from the line to help lift them to a thrilling 86-82 win.

Head Coach Ryan Krombeen attributes the quality play as of late to some lessons learned in a loss early last week in Muskegon.

"I think we learned a lot about ourselves last week in a loss to Muskegon Community College," commented Krombeen. "We became a tougher team, a more confident team. And it has shown in the last few days."

Krombeen continued his comment in reference to each of the last three wins:

"We played a tough Welch squad and fought through their full court pressure for a nice win. The Dayspring game was great because my starters played well in limited minutes, which allowed my bench to get a lot of meaningful playing time. Last night, we played a Cornerstone team with 24 players on their roster. We played in front of the biggest crowd our JV team ever had (around 1,000 people), and we played our best game of the year. We've been without Camron Staal for all 3 games, which has hurt our inside presence, but every guy has stepped up to fill his role."

The Tigers return to the court tonight at 5:00 pm against Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, MI.
