Lansing, MI - The JV team brought their two game losing streak to a halt Wednesday night, defeating Great Lakes Christian College in a very back-and-forth match-up on the road.
Josiah Kenney put in two clutch free throws with 37 seconds left to tie the game at 78-78 and force overtime. With a three point lead and under 10 seconds remaining, the Tigers fouled to only give up two free throws and it proved to be the right decision, resulting in an 89-87 victory after a
Cameron Staal rebound to cap things off after the Crusaders missed their last free throw.
The Tigers were playing without starting guard
Gerard Oray, who was pulled up to the varsity team, and
Zane Draper, Ladarius Lyons, and
Ethan Clasen all stepped up in the backcourt. Draper and Clasen each scored 19, while Lyons scored 13 and added 7 assists.
Nathan Blasko led the team with a monster game of 21 points and 12 rebounds.
The Tigers close out their season Friday night at the Aldrich Athletic Center against the Crusaders. Tip-off is at 7 pm and no spectators will be allowed (with the exception of Grace players' parents).
