Washington, MI – An exceptional all-around effort was put in by the Grace Christian University women's soccer team Wednesday afternoon on the eastside of the state, resulting in a 3-1 victory over NAIA Rochester University.
Jennie Sue Pilieci scored twice for the Tigers, and
Aubrey Bristol scored on a gem of a free-kick from 18 yards that found its way past the Warriors keeper to the left upper 90 of the goal.
"I was really, really pleased with the way we competed today," said Grace Head Coach
Mike Riemersma. "We played for ninety minutes which is something we have not done yet this year. From the get go the girls were engaged and locked in and it was the best soccer we have played since I have been here. I'm hoping that the lightbulbs are starting to go on and they are realizing what it takes to play together and compete at a high level. The bad news for the girl's, I guess, is that they've just set a new standard for their level of play. I expect them to compete like this the rest of the way."
The Tigers move to 2-2 on the season and they do not have much time to rest, as they will be traveling soon for two games in the state of Wisconsin – Thursday at Maranatha Baptist University (NCCAA II) and Friday at Mount Mary University (NCAA DIII).
