Wyoming, MI – It was an electric Wednesday evening at the Aldrich Athletic Center, as the Grace Christian University Tigers welcomed Lake Michigan College and Kalamazoo College to town for a tri-match that proved to be very evenly matched throughout.
The Tigers started out hot, winning the first 6 points of the night and securing the first set against Lake Michigan College. The next three sets would come all the way down to the finish and the Red Hawks made the points necessary late in the sets to win all three and top the Tigers 3-1 in the end.
The final game of the night between Kalamazoo College and Grace would come down to five sets, with the two teams alternating wins in sets 1-4. The Hornets would hold a slim lead throughout the final set and would close things out with a 15-12 victory to escape with a win over the Tigers.
"We struggled to find our rhythm and intensity for our first match of the day, although we still had the effort," said Head Coach
Kerri Shultz. "By our second match, the team found our heart a little bit more and pushed as hard as we could. It was so hard to not get the win, but we felt great knowing we stuck together to play to our potential."
