Grace Baseball enjoys Spring Break in the Smokies

Box Score Kodak, TN – Thanks to the rain it was not exactly the week the Grace Tigers baseball team was planning on for their Spring Break down in Tennessee, but they would make some strides on the diamond and enjoyed their time off as well.

After finding some momentum at the plate on Monday against Johnson University scoring 17 runs in two games, the Tigers got some things going offensively once again against Alice Lloyd College in what would turn out to be their lone game at Smokies Stadium (the home ballpark of MiLB's Tennessee Smokies). In the end, they'd fall 11-5 to ALC and their final two games would be rescheduled and then later canceled due to rain. Final stats are currently being processed by the host school.

"Our trip was great on many levels," commented Grace Head Coach Colton Wolfe. "Although we only got 3 of our 5 scheduled games in, we played some of our best baseball to date in those 3 games. We competed well and had a chance to win each game against a very solid Johnson team, and against an Alice Lloyd team that made the NCCAA World Series last year."

Away from the ballpark, the Tigers hiked the beautiful Smoky Mountains, played plenty of Mafia games at the hotel, and capped off their trip with a visit to the University of Tennessee, where they joined the Volunteers' home crowd for an NCAA DI game down the road in Knoxville.

"It was a fun trip all around! We're excited to get back at it as our team is starting to find their stride," added Coach Wolfe.
Next up for the Tigers is a match-up against NCAA DII Saginaw Valley State University on the road on March 17 at 3:05 pm.
