Joplin, MO – It's always tough to play in a consolation game, as both teams likely had loftier goals entering the NCCAA DII National Tournament, but regardless, the Bob Jones Bruins and Grace Tigers produced a great game with a high competition level Thursday morning.
After the two teams played pretty evenly for the first three quarters, the stage was set for an entertaining final period and that it was.
A beautiful play to start the fourth quarter for the Tigers which resulted in a basket for
Emily Libey off a backdoor cut would set the tone for a great offensive quarter for the Tigers. Though the Tigers continued to find the bottom of the net for 20 points in the quarter, the Bruins seemed to answer every time the Tigers would close in.
Taejah Cross would knot things up at 69-69 with 1:00 remaining, but the Bruins once again answered with a three point shot and would knock down free throws in the end to go away with an 80-73 win.
Cross finished with a career-high 19 points, and
Megan George finished her last game in the Tigers uniform with 19 points.
Emily Libey finished with 10 points and will be five points away from 1,000 on her career entering next season.
The Tigers finish the year 14-12 with many great accomplishments to look back on, including their third straight trip to the National Tournament.
