Grand Rapids, MI – The Grace Christian University baseball team traveled across town to Calvin University Monday evening for a match-up with the NCAA DIII Knights. It was a familiar scene to the three coaches on the Tigers' staff, Calvin being their alma mater.
The Tigers were able to outscore the Knights 7-4 in the final 7 innings of play but a slow start in the first couple innings was too much to overcome, resulting in a 15-7 loss in the nine-inning game.
Lorenzo Lopez went 1-2 with an RBI, and
AJ Scott got on base all three of his at bats (1 walk and 2 HBP) and scored 1 run.
"The guys played really well at Calvin yesterday," said Grace Head Coach
Colton Wolfe. "After giving up a big inning, we were able to regain our composure and play our version of Grace baseball again. I've been proud of our team all year regarding how they respond to adversity. We're hoping to carry our momentum into Thursday against Lourdes and put together 14 strong innings."
Next up for the Tigers is a double-header this Thursday at Lourdes University (NAIA) in Sylvania, OH, with the first game starting at 3:00 pm.
