Another doubleheader was upon the Grace Tigers baseball team Thursday evening at Lourdes University in Ohio. The Tigers struggled in their first game against the top-tier NAIA Grey Wolves, but rebounded well with a solid overall performance to cap the night in game 2.
Despite having a rough time stopping the Grey Wolves in the first game, three Tigers were able to record two hits on the game –
Lorenzo Lopez,
Kelan Knoll, and
Dylan Thomas. Thomas was a perfect 2-2 to up his season average to .342.
After their largest margin loss of the season in game one, the Tigers gained their composure and
Cooper Lake and
Logan Hamstra combined for a quality pitching showing against the high-powered Lourdes line-up. Still, the Grey Wolves had one big inning in the third to propel them to seven runs and a 10-3 victory.
"The highlight from yesterday was how we rebounded from Game 1 and gave ourselves a chance in Game 2," said Grace Head Coach
Colton Wolfe. "If we clean up a couple things on the defensive side of the ball, we'll be right there. I'm proud of how far these guys have come along this year, and we're excited to keep getting after it."
The Tigers are right back at it today in Ann Arbor, playing against fellow NCCAA member Concordia University-Ann Arbor at 2:00 pm.
