Tigers break runs record but fall twice to Royals

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Knoxville, TN – A busy Spring Break for the Grace Christian University baseball team started Monday morning at Johnson University-Tennessee, for a double-header with the fellow-NCCAA Royals.

The Tigers started things off hot at the plate, scoring 6 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. They would only enjoy their 6-0 lead for a short time, however, as the Royals answered with 8 runs of their own in the bottom of the second. After the Royals extended their lead to 10-6, the Tigers answered in the 5th inning, scoring 4 runs to knot the game at 10-10. The Royals once against would strike back immediately in the bottom of the 5th, extending their lead to 16-10 and running away with the win after weather halted things in the 6th.

After scoring their most runs of all-time in game 1, the Tigers continued the offensive production in the second game, crossing home plate 7 times. The Royals, however, continued to produce offensively at a high rate, scoring 12 time and coming away with the victory.

The Tigers, still seeking that elusive first win in program history, will head to minor league Smokies Stadium in Kodak, TN today to face Alice Lloyd College (KY) and Trinity International University (IL) at 1 and 6 pm CT.
