Wyoming, MI - The Grace Christian Men's Basketball team welcomed the Welch College Flames on Monday evening. Although the Flames started out hot coming out in a 4-0 lead, this was the only lead the Tigers would allow them to have for the remainder of the game. Grace defeated Welch 92-81.
Melvin Frazier scored a season-high 22 points and added 4 steals.
Ty Thiel followed with 17 points, and
Parker Neu added 10 points and 9 rebounds.
"Tonight was our best all around game against a quality opponent," commented Coach Krombeen. "Melvin was spectacular early on both ends of the floor. I think Ty's improvement defensively this year has been huge for us lately as well. We had a little trouble against their press, and credit to Welch, they kept fighting. I was happy to see some in game improvements that we made to beat the press as well. Our guys have never once quit, even with a record that isn't up to our standards. The energy and positivity on the bench certainly helped tonight as well. We are heading in the right direction, with a lot of NCCAA games coming up. All of our goals are in front of us, we can still end with a great season."
The Tigers return to the Aldrich Athletic Center to face another NCCAA opponent, Emmaus Bible College, next Tuesday evening at 7pm.
