Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Womens Basketball Suffers Loss In Region Tournament Quarterfinal

Lansing, MI - The Grace Christian Women's Basketball squad entered the post-season as a 4th seed in the Mideast Region Tournament, hosted by Great Lakes Christian in Lansing, MI. They entered the tournament at .500 (11-11) but had registered a 7-3 record against NCCAA DII opponents during the regular season

The quarterfinal match-up would pin in-state rivals together as the 4th seed Grace Christian would take on 5th seed Great Lakes. A match-up that the Tigers were 2-0 on the season but the margin was slim. So it was expected to have a tough game.
From the tipoff, it was a back and fourth game all first quarter. It was the Tigers getting in early foul trouble that would be the biggest struggle and allow the Crusaders to have freebie attempts at the line. This caused the Tigers to be behind closely in the first half.
In the 2nd, we'd find a razor-thin third quarter. Outshooting the Crusaders but unfortunately did not convert as high as the Tigers would've liked. Going into the fourth, Great Lakes would find a rhythm and start to pressure the Tigers further. The Tigers would break down pressure but continued to struggle at the rim and ultimately fell to the the host Crusaders 52-70.

SCORING REBOUNDING
Coach Adams Commented: "Having drawn the 4th seed is uncommon for us. We are usually in the 1 or 2 spots traditionally. We played a tough Great Lakes team and battled to the end, we just came up a little short. We will be back where we belong next year for sure!"

This loss will conclude the season for the Lady Tigers squad. Finishing with a record of 11-12, several post-season award winners, and more possible to come. With this young group, keep on an eye on them next year. They'll be ready!

Coach Adams added: "What a season, we have been through so much this year with injuries, players leaving etc…… I'm truly thankful for my staff and the young ladies who stuck it out and completed the season. We have truly grown as a family. Of course, we didn't want our season to end this early but our future is bright here at Grace. We have a good young core of players coming back who will continue to grow and improve. Special shot out to our award winners this year. I've enjoyed watching Ashlyn become the leader of this team on and off the floor, and to our Freshman of the year, this was a goal of ours that we set together and feel good to see complete the mission."
