Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Splits In South Carolina

Greenville, SC - Volleyball was on the road this weekend with a 4-game set in Greenville, SC hosted by Bob Jones University.

The Tigers would play the host first, which was anticipated to be a tough matchup. The Bruins gave a strong performance, shutting Grace down in nearly all facets of the game. Grace would drop the match 0-3 (6-25, 21-25, 13-25).

Next up was Clinton College, also out of South Carolina. Grace seemed to find a rhythm at this point, and after dropping a close first set to the Golden Bears, stormed back for the next 3 games to win the match 3-1 (24-27, 25-15, 25-13, 25-17). Morgan Martin and Liberty Laker led the charge on the offensive side, giving 16 and 10 kills respectively. Kiersten Palmbos and Lily Hulst provided the majority of assists with 17 and 14 each. And Eleyna Zichterman played stellar defense, digging 20 balls over the course of the match.

First on Saturday came Regent University (Va.). The Tigers seemed to get off to a slow start again, falling in straight sets to the Royals 0-3 (19-25, 23-25, 22-25). Alexa Borgman showed a strong front row performance, finishing the match with 4 blocks.

Last up on Saturday afternoon was a rematch with Welch College, who Grace beat handily for their first win of the season just a few weeks earlier. The Tigers would waste no time again with the Flames, beating them in consecutive sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-15) to go home on a win. Several strong performers were Eleyna Zichterman, who dug 27 attacks in the match, Leah Buller with two blocks, and Lily Hulst who had 4 service aces on the day.

Grace will take a full week off after the long weekend, with their next match being Saturday, September 23rd vs Emmaus Bible College at 12pm in the Aldrich Athletic Center. The now 5-4 Tigers hope to gain some mid-season momentum and get a big win at home.
