Wyoming, MI - The Men's Varsity team played their home opener Wednesday night against Kalamazoo College (DIII). The Hornets came into the matchup 2-0 on the season, while the Tigers came in 4-3 with a win the prior night against cross-town rival Kuyper College.
Kalamazoo struck first in this game and jumped out to a 16 point lead midway through the first half. The Tigers were able to close the gap to just 8 points by halftime, but the Hornets were able to hold their lead throughout the second half. Grace kept within striking distance for the majority of the game, only being down 10 points with 8 minutes to go. However Kalamazoo pulled away down the home stretch and ended up winning by a score of 87-68.
The leading scorer for Grace was Gavin Fischer with 13 points, followed by
Bankeys Omari with 11.
Allen Briggs and
Quay Humphries also put up 10 points each.
Grace's next game will be an exhibition match at Ferris State University on Tuesday, November 26th at 7pm.
