Watertown, WI - The Grace Tigers made the trip over to Wisconsin this weekend for what they thought would be a pair of double headers. Unfortunately due to the rain, they were only able to squeak out one game against Maranatha on Friday afternoon.
A single by
Renee Viles Gable would get the Tigers off to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Sabercats came back to get two runs of their own. A strong second inning for Grace would bring them back into the lead with 8 more runs, which consisted of a double by
Skylar Lowe and a triple by
Kiersten Palmbos.
Maranatha was unable to score again until the fifth and final inning, but the Tigers had already sealed the game off with another 9 runs. Lowe,
Emma Balkema, and
Kenzie Brothers each had a double at the bottom of the fifth. The Tigers defeated the Sabercats 23-3.
Carlee DeVries, Brothers, and Lowe each had 3 hits, while
Emma Balkema totaled 5 RBIs. On the mound for Grace was
Tammy Perrotta pitching all 5 innings, striking out 4 and only giving up 5 hits.
The Grace Softball team ends their regular season with a record of 8-19.
