Wyoming, MI - The women's basketball team kicked off the new year by hosting Redeemer University (Hamilton, ON) on Friday evening for an NCCAA match up. The Royals of Redeemer jumped out to a 7-0 start, but the Tigers quickly caught up, ending the first quarter in a 14-14 tie.
Eager to recapture the lead, Redeemer would outscore Grace 24-11 in the second corner, sending them into halftime with a 13 point lead. Desperate to cut into the lead, the Tigers continued to struggle in the second half. The Royals went on to top the Tigers 79-58.
Sierra Fonseca led the Tigers with 20 points and 7 rebounds.
Julia Schultz finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the season.
Jessi Calizo also added 13 points.
Women's basketball, now 2-10, returns to the Aldrich on Thursday as they host Welch College at 5pm.
