Baseball Ends Fall Season With A Win

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Wyoming, MI - Grace Christian faced off against Grace College (IN) in a four game set to cap off the fall season. Though Grace Christian had chances to win in 3 of the 4 games, they would only come away with one of them. However, a win in game four of the series gives them positive momentum heading into the winter offseason. 

Game 1

  • Final Score: Grace College 6, Grace Christian 2

  • Grace Christian struck first with a solo homer by Daniel Wallington in the 2nd, followed by another solo bomb by Damian Fernandez in the 4th. 

  • Grace College chipped away and then broke the game open in the sixth inning, scoring multiple runs to take control, ultimately winning 6-2.

  • Kaleb Blaskowski threw a solid 5.0 innings, only allowing 4 hits and collecting 4 strikeouts. 


Game 2

  • Final Score: Grace College 15, Grace Christian 1

  • Grace Christian scored first on a squeeze bunt by Dale Westphal, scoring Ben Anderson.
  • The offense stalled out while the Lancers stayed hot.

  • Freshman Reagan Gates threw 2.0 scoreless innings in relief for the Tigers. 

Game 3

  • Final Score: Grace College 3, Grace Christian 0

  • John Sanocki started on the mound for the Tigers, throwing a complete game and keeping the game within reach the whole time. 

  • The Tigers stranded runners in scoring position in three innings

  • Ethan Edmondson, Ben Anderson and Moises Lerma all collected a hit in the game.


Game 4

  • Final Score: Grace Christian 8, Grace College 7 

  • Grace College jumped ahead early, but Grace Christian responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning including a 2-RBI single by Justin Harphant.

  • The game had 5 lead changes, but a late game 2-RBI double by Dale Westphal and another RBI single by Moises Lerma put the Tigers ahead by 2 runs going into the 7th inning. 

  • Breylan McPhaul threw all 7.0 innings and held the Lancers to just 7 hits in the contest, with 6 K's. Though Grace threatened a comeback in the 7th, McPhaul got two groundouts and a strikeout to end the threat and close out the victory.

The Tigers head into the offseason with a 5-4 overall record in countable games this fall. They will continue practices this week and then be off until second semester, where they pick back up indoors in January. Grace Christian's next games will be February 26-27 at Principia College in St. Louis, MO for a 3 game series.
