Wyoming, MI - On Tuesday Women's Soccer took on rival Great Lakes Christian College at Velting Field. The Tigers just came off a tough road trip over the weekend and are looking ot bounce back going into the home stretch of the season.
Great Lakes came out aggressive and were able to create several early scoring chances before they were able to find the back of the net just 10 minutes in. The Tigers defense would rebound quickly and respond as Goalie Kenna Hill collected 14 total saves on the day.
The score would remain 1-0 Crusaders as they headed into the locker room at the half. Headed into the second half the game continued to be a defensive battle as both teams were fighting for possession. The Tigers were able to create a few scoring opportunities but just weren't able to connect.
Going into the final 60 seconds of regulation, an offensive attack led to a Tigers corner kick and a last ditch effort to tie the game. The Tigers did just that, Natalie Huerta placed a beautiful ball right in front of the goal and Kendall Johnson was able to finish tying the game 1-1 with 24 seconds remaining giving the Tigers their second tie of the season.
This tie brings the Tigers conference record to 3-1-1 on the year as they continued to be ranked top 5 in the NCCAA. The Tigers will travel to Wisconsin this weekend to take on Lakeland University, and Maranatha Baptist University before returning home for more action on Wednesday, October 22.
