Wyoming, MI - The Aldrich was packed as usual for a late season rivaly matchup with the Great Lakes Christian College Crusaders. These two teams have a storied history, including many regional final games and almost every time it is a close game. Coming into tonight, the Tigers led the overall record 17-8, and were hoping to add to that total.
The game started out with Grace shooting well and jumping out to a 20-10 lead after 10 minutes. However, the Crusaders would battle back, evening the score at 32-32 just before the half. The Tigers found a streak of momentum however, and went on a 9-2 run to close out the first half, going into halftime with a 41-34 lead.Â
Great Lakes found renewed energy in the second half, and quickly fought their way back to even things up at 53-53 just several minutes in. The game would be a roller coaster from there on out, with both teams switching leads and hitting clutch shots until roughly 4 minutes left. At that point, Grace gained a four point lead and held onto it until the last seconds where Great Lakes was forced to start fouling, and the Tigers ended up closing it out with a 86-81 win.Â
Bankeys Omari led the way in scoring for the Tigers with 21 points.
Graydon Hutchinson and
Keontae Richards followed close behind with 18 and 14 points. The key to victory was shooting for the Tigers, as they shot 52% from the floor and an impressive 86% from the free throw line (19-22).
Zac Yorke shot a perfect 8-8 in free throws. Defensively,
Keontae Richards led in Rebounds with 7, and also had 3 steals.Â
Grace has four more games in the regular season, with the next one being on Saturday in Chicago against Moody Bible Institute.Â
