Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Tigers finish fifth in NCCAA National Tournament

Minneapolis, MN - The Grace Christian Men's Basketball team traveled to Minneapolis last week for the NCCAA DII Championship hosted by Crown College. The #5 seed Tigers tipped off on Thursday night against #4 seed Crown College. While Grace held a double digit lead for much of the first half, the Polars began to cut into the lead just before halftime. A 6 point lead at the half was not enough for the Tigers as Crown College came back in the second half for a 74-69 victory over Grace. Brayden Gable and Keontae Richards led the Tigers offensively with 16 and 13 points respectively. Zac Yorke added 13 rebounds and 5 assists.

Grace's second game was on Friday afternoon versus #8 seed Champion Christian College. The Tigers defeated Champion Christian 95-90 to move on to one final game on Saturday. Bankeys Omari led the Tigers with 25 points, while Richards added 19. Yorke grabbed 12 rebounds and chipped in 5 assists.

A 79-71 victory over #7 Bob Jones University on Saturday led the Tigers to a 5th place finish in the NCCAA DII Championship. In his final game as a Tiger, senior Zac Yorke recorded his first triple double with 13 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. Senior Bankeys Omari concluded his career with 21 points and senior Quay Humphries added 14 points.

The Tigers closed out the 2024-25 season with an overall 17-16 record, a regional championship, and a 5th place finish in the nation. Some key highlights of the season included a trip to Hawaii, Omari's 1,000th career point during the regional championship game, and an appearance in the NCCAA DII Championship. Grace says goodbye to their three seniors, Bankeys Omari, Zac Yorke, and Quay Humphries, all key players for the Tigers who will be greatly missed as they graduate.
