Kentwood, MI - The Grace Christian Baseball team completed a weekend sweep of University of Cincinnati-Clermont going 4-0. Earlier in the season, the two teams had met and UC Clermont had come out on top with a 4-0 sweep over the Tigers.Â
Game One
Game One started off with a competitive scoreless three innings. A home run at the top of the fourth gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead, but the Tigers quickly fired back with two runs of their own at the bottom of the inning. UC Clermont scored one more run at the top of the fifth, but Grace exploded for 5 more runs at the bottom, including home runs by
Dylan Thomas and
AJ Scott.Â
Colin Nelson threw a competitive 4.1 innings only giving up 2 runs.
John Sanocki came in to pitch the final 2.2 innings and struck out 3 batters. The Tigers took Game One 7-2.

Game Two
The Tigers scored another 7 runs in Game Two as they defeated the Cougars 7-5. Two runs at the bottom of the first gave Grace a 2-1 lead, but a majority of their runs would come at the bottom of the fifth.
Damian Fernandez led offensive efforts with 2 hits and 4 RBIs.Â
Brendan Bos started the game on the mound throwing 5.0 innings and
Kaleb Blaskowski came in for the final 2.0 innings and struck out 4.Â
Game Three
The Tigers had completed a double header sweep on Friday, but that wasn't enough as they went on to once again sweep the Cougars on Saturday. In Game Three, they defeated UC Clermont 8-5.Â
Jared Garnaat and
Reagan Mutschler each ended the game with a home run, while Garnaat also added a double. Garnaat also led defensively as he threw the first 4.1 innings with 6 strikeouts.Â
Game Four
The Tigers completed their weekend sweep with a final 5-4 victory over UC Clermont on Saturday. Fernandez and
Daniel Wallington each recorded 2 hits, including a double a piece. Garnaat also had a double.Â
Freshman
Michael Bontrager took the mound for the first six innings and struck out 7.
The Grace Christian Baseball team now travels to Concordia University Ann Arbor on Wednesday, April 16 for a double header starting at 2pm.
