Kentwood, MI - The Grace Christian Softball team welcomed Maranatha Baptist University on Tuesday for the second time this season. Earlier in the month, the Tigers swept the Sabercats 4-0 at Kellogg Woods Park.Â
Game One
Emma Balkema fired her first no-hitter of the season in Game One, including 12 strikeouts - a season-high for the sophomore as she pitched 5.0 innings. Other key highlights from the match up included a triple by both
Kyra Kaboos and
Kaliann Newberry and a double by
Skylar Lowe. Kaboos and Lowe each recorded 2 RBIs as well. The Tigers took down the Sabercats 8-0.
Game Two
Freshman
Alyssa Wallinga took the mound for Game Two, as she collected 6 strikeouts and only gave up one hit in 5.0 innings. Offensively, Grace had a successful day of hitting, earning 15 hits with 6 Tigers with 2 or more hits.
Morgan Hall led 3 hits along with 2 runs, while Balkema tallied 3 RBIs, 3 runs, and 2 hits. The Tigers erupted for 12 runs at the bottom of the third, securing a strong lead, and eventually defeated Maranatha by a score of 17-0.Â
Grace Softball is currently on a 10-game win streak and looks to keep the bats hot going into a home weekend series against Alice Lloyd College (KY). The Tigers play at 3:30/5pm on Thursday and 12/2pm on Saturday. Senior
