Kentwood, MI - The Grace Christian Softball team's win streak came to an end on Thursday as they welcomed Alice Lloyd College (KY) for a weekend series. Senior
Kyra Kaboos was honored on Saturday during Senior Game before the Tigers took the field.Â
Game One
The Eagles of Alice Lloyd defeated the Tigers 10-0 in the first of two games on Thursday.Â
Grace's two hits of the game came from
Kaliann Newberry and
Lexie Alexander. In the circle,
Emma Balkema pitched all 5 innings, striking out 2.Â
Game Two
The Tigers fell 3-12 in the second game of the day. Grace led 2-0 at the end of the first inning. A bunt by
Morgan Hall allowed
Kyra Kaboos to score the first run of the day, which was followed up by a run by Newberry shortly after.Â
A single by
Alyssa Wallinga at the bottom of the third would help Hall to cross home plate for the Tigers' third run. The Eagles secured their victory with 8 more runs at the top of the fifth.
Wallinga was on the mound for the Tigers throwing all 5 innings. Newberry led with 2 hits.
Game Three
The Tigers welcomed the Eagles back on Saturday afternoon for another pair of games. The Eagles showed no mercy to the Tigers as they earned 8 runs at the top of the first, including two home runs.Â
Wallinga doubled to left field at the bottom of the fourth to bring Newberry home for the Tigers' first run of the afternoon. Wallinga was brought home by a single by
Lexie Alexander.
Kenzie Brothers and Kaboos scored two more runs at the bottom of the fifth.
Skylar Lowe added a triple. Wallinga pitched all 5 innings with 2 strikeouts.
Game Four
The Eagles closed out their weekend sweep of the Tigers with a 20-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.Â
Carlee DeVries, Balkema, and Newberry each got a hit. Newberry also added an RBI. Wallinga was again on the mound for the Tigers.
The Tigers will close out their regular season at home on Friday with a pair of games against Lake Michigan College.Â
