Tigers Rally Late To Stun the Cougars

Wyoming, MI - Tigers wrapped up a four game set with UC Clermont at the woods on Saturday. Tigers would send Parker Curell to the mound looking for a solid outing to finish the day.

The Tigers would jump out to an early lead in the bottom of the first after Gavin Kleidon delivered an RBI single. The Cougars would respond in the top half of the second with 4 runs to take a 4-1 lead.

Curell would settle in and the game would remain 4-1 until the Cougars would take advantage of a Tigers miscue in the 6th and take a 5-1 lead. The Tigers would respond in the bottom of the 6th with Regan Mustchler hitting a 2-run bomb and Dylan Thomas going back-to-back with a solo shot of his own.

Down 4-5 in the 7th the Tigers were down to their last out when Caleb Achatz was put in to pinch hit. Achatz then delivered a clutch solo bomb to tie the game and send it into extra innings.

Things unraveled a bit for the Tigers as the Cougars rallied for 7 runs in the top of the 8th, seemingly to leave the Tigers in an impossible 5-12 deficit. In the bottom of the 8th Mustchler led off the inning with a double followed by a 2-run shot from Dylan Thomas to bring the score to 7-12. After  the first out was recorded Dale Westphal delivered a single followed by another 2-run shot, this time by Daniel Walling cutting the Cougars lead to just 3 runs.

Ethan Edmondson kept the offense going with a single, followed by an RBI double by Mo Lerma to make it a 10-12 game. Luke Lindsten would then deliver a clutch pinch hit single to cut the deficit to just one run bringing the potential winning run to the plate in the form of Gavin Kleidon

Kleidon absolutely crushed a Walk-Off 2-run bomb completing the Tigers 7 run extra inning comeback to cap off the weekend in dramatic fashion.

The Tigers next game is at Hope College on Wednesday for a single 9 inning midweek matchup.
