HOLLAND, Mich. — Grace Christian University baseball used a late offensive surge to pull away from Hope College baseball, earning a 5–2 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Boeve Stadium.
Hope struck first in the opening inning, as Aaron Pryce delivered an RBI single to give the Flying Dutchmen an early 1–0 lead. The Dutchmen added another run in the fifth inning to extend the advantage to 2–0. However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the sixth inning.
Grace Christian broke through with a three-run frame, highlighted by Reagan Mutschler's two-RBI single that tied the game before Eric Whiting followed with a go-ahead RBI groundout. The Tigers weren't finished, adding two more runs in the seventh inning, both coming off Hope defensive miscues, to build a 5–2 lead they would not give up.
On the mound, Kaleb Blaskowski delivered a dominant relief performance for Grace Christian. The left-hander tossed 5.1 innings, allowing just one run while striking out eight to earn the win and stabilize the game after the early deficit.
Offensively, the Tigers managed five hits but made them count in key moments. Mutschler led the way with two RBIs, while Moises Lerma and Daniel Wallington each scored runs as part of the decisive middle-inning rally.
With the win, Grace Christian improves to 15–13 on the season, and has a week off before returning to action at Aquinas on Wednesday, March 8th.
