Ryan Krombeen

2024-25: Grace posted another strong season with a very strong strength of schedule, facing off against multiple NCAA Division II schools and a handful more in exhibition matchups. The Tigers went 9-1 in NCCAA play, ran through the regional with a clean sweep of both Kuyper and Great Lakes, and won two games in the national tournament. The team would get knocked out of the tournament by a strong Crown College team, but again raised the bar for years to come with their post-season play under Coach Krombeen.

2023-24: Grace saw strong improvement in year two of Krombeen's tenure, boosting their overall record to 18-14 and capturing key wins over Trinity Christian College, a season sweep (3-0) over rival Great Lakes Christian College, and a strong 10-4 record against NCCAA opponents. The Tigers swept their regional, winning three straight games against Moody Bible, Kuyper College, and Great Lakes to earn a bid to their first national tournament since the 2020-21 season. The Tigers bowed out of the tournament with two losses but gained valuable experience in the national setting.

2022-23: In Coach Krombeen's first year as Varsity Head Coach, he led the Tigers to just shy of a .500 record, going 15-16. Grace saw many solid victories, including a buzzer beater on opening night over Ohio Christian University, a two-point win over Spring Arbor University, and an 8-3 record against NCCAA opponents. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Regional tournament, but gave a strong showing under a new coaching regime.

Prior to Coaching: Ryan Krombeen was a key player on four Grace NCCAA DII National Championship teams from 2009 to 2012, serving as captain from 2010-2012. He received All-Midwest Region honors in each of his last three seasons as a Tiger, and he also was named to the NCCAA All-Tournament team in 2010. As for team awards, Krombeen earned MVP honors his senior season in 2012 and was honored with the Tiger Award in 2010 after his sophomore year. Accumulating 1385 points throughout his career, Krombeen’s name is 9th on the All-Time scorers list. He also is third in three other categories: career rebounds (906), assists (472), and blocks (118). In 2019, Krombeen was inducted as a player into the Grace Christian athletics Hall of Fame.

Coach Krombeen has been heavily involved with Grace Athletics since he left the court as a player; first as an Assistant Coach for the varsity men’s basketball team from 2012 to 2013, and then as JV Head Coach from 2015-22.

Ryan is married to wife Hannah Krombeen, and they reside in Wyoming, MI with their two kids, Madelyn and Tyler. He is currently the P.E. teacher at Grandville Christian Elementary school.
